The Premise of Resurfaced

It’s been 110 years since a nuclear apocalypse left Earth’s atmosphere uninhabitable as it simmered in radiation. Fortunately, there were survivors. Nine nations had operational space stations at the time of the bombs. Now, there is only the Aegis, one station formed from the many that once floated individually above earth’s atmosphere. You’re told the Earth needs another 130 years to be habitable again. Five more station locked generations and man can go home, back to the surface. The Surface: That is the dream.

This is your reality:

On the Aegis, any crime is punishable by death, unless you are a minor. A minor will stay imprisoned in what is called “The Sky Box” until the age of eighteen, where their crime will be evaluated and a decision made for continued punishment or release. You are one of these prisoners. You are a delinquent, locked away with 100 others like yourself. Due to lack of space in the prison, most people are bunking with 3-4 others, crammed into small spaces waiting for their Evaluation Day to come. Before yours comes, a guard knocks on your door and attempts to restrain you without your resistance. If you resist, it is done forcibly and you are knocked unconscious. Though the character is unaware of their actual fate, you are being sent to the surface without explanation, 130 years too early.
